Halvo Quarterly operates under the following editorial principles: articles on weight management habits are reviewed by at least one second editor before publication, sources are cited where appropriate, corrections are noted publicly, and writers disclose any commercial relationships that could influence their selection of subject matter.

Halvo Quarterly is an independent editorial publication covering daily habits, sustainable routines, and coaching perspectives on gradual weight management. The publication is not affiliated with any commercial, governmental, or institutional body.

Content published by Halvo Quarterly is selected based on published behavioural and nutritional research, and reviewed for editorial accuracy by a second editor before publication. No article makes claims of guaranteed outcomes — observations are documented as patterns, not prescriptions.

From topic selection to published article

Each article follows a structured process from initial topic identification through field observation, source review, and dual-editor sign-off. The timeline below reflects the standard workflow.

01
Topic Identification
The editorial team reviews published behavioural and nutritional research — primarily peer-reviewed habit science literature and independent wellness writing — to identify topics relevant to daily weight management routines. Topics are assessed for public interest, editorial angle, and the availability of supporting sources.
02
Observation Period
Writers undertake a structured observation period of two to four weeks before drafting. Field notes are recorded daily — tracking movement patterns, meal timing observations, sleep quality, and stress-related eating patterns where relevant. The observation period grounds each article in documented experience rather than generalisation.
03
Source Verification
All claims in each draft are checked against cited sources. Where peer-reviewed literature exists, it is referenced. Where claims rely on editorial observation alone, this is stated explicitly in the article. Sources are assessed for publication date, institutional affiliation, and potential commercial bias.
04
Dual-Editor Review
Every article is reviewed by a second editor before publication. The reviewing editor checks factual accuracy, tone consistency, source integrity, and compliance with the publication's stop-word and framing standards. No article that makes absolute claims about outcomes passes this stage without amendment.
05
Writer Disclosure
Writers are required to disclose any commercial relationships that could influence their choice of subject matter, product mention, or editorial framing. Disclosures appear at the end of affected articles. Writers with undisclosed conflicts of interest are not published.
06
Publication and Corrections Policy
Articles are published with full author attribution, publication date, and reading time estimate. Factual corrections are applied promptly and noted publicly within the corrected article with the date of amendment. Corrections are never silently removed.

How sources are selected and assessed

Accepted Source Types
  • Peer-reviewed habit science and nutritional research journals
  • Published books by recognised behavioural researchers
  • Independent wellness organisations with disclosed funding
  • Registered coaching methodology bodies
  • Government nutrition advisory publications (for reference only)
Sources Not Accepted
  • Commercially funded studies without disclosed methodology
  • Product testimonials or brand-sponsored research
  • Social media content without attributable authorship
  • Pre-print research not yet reviewed by a second party
  • Anonymous anecdotal accounts presented as evidence
Publication Age Policy

Primary sources published more than ten years ago are used only when they represent foundational habit science that has not been superseded. All older sources are noted with their publication year and assessed against more recent literature where available.

Observation vs. Evidence

Halvo Quarterly distinguishes between editorial observation — the writer's documented personal or field experience — and published evidence. Each article makes this distinction explicit in its framing. Observational passages are not presented as proof of outcome.

Commitments to factual accuracy

No Absolute Outcome Claims

Halvo Quarterly does not publish content claiming that any habit, routine, or approach produces a guaranteed weight outcome. Articles describe what is associated with gradual weight awareness in published research. Association is noted as association, not causation. Language such as "this will make you lose weight" does not appear in published articles.

Framing Around Gradual Change

The publication consistently frames weight management as a gradual, long-term pattern of observation and adjustment — not as a sequence of short-term interventions. Editorial copy avoids time-bound outcome language and does not reference weight loss in terms of rapid change, specific stone targets, or dress sizes.

Independent Stance

The publication accepts no advertising or affiliate revenue from wellness product companies, nutrition supplement brands, or weight management services. Editorial independence is maintained absolutely. Writers who hold commercial relationships relevant to an article topic are required to disclose these, and in some cases reassigned to alternative topics.

Reader Notifications

When an article is substantially amended after publication, a correction note is appended at the top of the article, recording the date and nature of the change. Minor grammatical corrections that do not affect meaning are not notified. Factual changes of any significance are always notified.

The second-editor review standard

No article is published having been read by only one person. The two-editor standard applies to every piece, regardless of word count or subject matter.

"An observation documented carefully over three weeks is more useful to a reader than a claim repeated confidently without supporting notes."
— Halvo Quarterly Editorial Charter, 2026
What the second editor checks
  • All factual claims are traceable to a cited source or explicitly identified as editorial observation.
  • No absolute outcome language has been introduced during drafting. No guarantees, no "will" statements about weight change.
  • The tone is consistent with the documentary register of the publication — observational, not prescriptive.
  • Writer disclosure has been completed and any noted commercial relationship is flagged for editorial judgement.
  • The article's framing does not lean into sensationalism, urgency-language, or before-and-after narrative structures.
